On 10 October, one year after the release of Anna Kruse’s album RINGEN, the year comes full circle with “RINGEN II” – completing the circle around the album, not the journey. RINGEN was promoted on Swedish television and radio and marked another chapter in Kruse’s almost two-decade-long artistic journey into the poetry of Finnish-Swedish poet Edith Södergran.
“RINGEN II” is a dark, bossa-jazzy yet playful universe, driven by drum pads and haunting horns that seem to arrive from the edge of Armageddon. Norwegian trumpet player Gunnar Halle adds a raw, lyrical and atmospheric voice, creating another distinctive Nordic dimension.
The song is built around Södergran’s powerful vision of the ring – a place where we are called to step forward, take our place and give ourselves fully when the moment arrives. It is a song about courage, choice, vulnerability and the decisive moments that shape life and death.
Kruse’s sound moves between jazz, poetry, folk and improvisation, bringing Södergran’s words to life through ensembles, big bands, orchestras, string quartets and choirs.
“RINGEN II” is about stepping into the ring, giving the heart, and meeting the moment – no matter how frightened you are.
